ECGC Foundation Inc. Bursary Awards

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC): Division of Technical and Vocational Education (DTVE) continues to partner with industry in an effort to provide needy students with financial assistance this 2016-2017 academic year. On Wednesday October 12th 2016, eight students became the first recipients of the East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC) Foundation Inc. Bursary, a scholarship scheme which would award sufficiently qualified students with EC$1500.00 to cover registration and programme fees. The award was open to students in various programmes of the DTVE, and successful applicants came from the Applied Associate Degree programmes in Agricultural Science and Entrepreneurship, and Electrical Engineering Technology.

Chief Executive Officer of the ECGC and Chairman of the ECGC Foundation Mr Osmond Davy, Director of the Foundation Mr Dixton Findlay, and Human Resource Manager of the ECGC Mrs Phyllis James were present at the award ceremony during which a cheque of EC$9,600.00 was handed over to Mr Osborne Bowens, Dean of the DTVE. These monies would cover the awardees’ registration and programme fees for their first year. Successful completion of year one would earn students the remaining value of the award to cover registration fees for year two.  The CEO of the ECGC reminded students of the value of hard work and the importance of gaining the foundation necessary to position themselves to make meaningful contributions to industry upon successful completion of their studies. The SVGCC looks forward to fostering deeper relationships with the ECGC Foundation Inc. in the interest of students’ welfare and national development.
