A few weeks ago, we reflected on our achievements/accomplishments and the challenges we faced in 2009.  At the same time, we contemplated on what 2010 has in store for us.  We made resolutions and planned strategies in order to accomplish our goals and to resolve the imminent imperative challenges.

According to the Economic and Financial gurus of the region, the Caribbean would be hardest hit by the tail end of the global recessionary factors in the year 2010, while the more developed countries would be recovering.  I am confident that as a people, we are resilient enough to weather the storm.

Over the past twelve months, we have reengineered our operations, employed austerity cost cutting measures, and tweaked our machines to extract higher yields.    Our Rice plant in Guyana obtained the ISO 9001-2008 accreditation in April, 2009, the first rice mill in the Caricom Region to achieve this status.   Our objective was to achieve higher productivity (efficiency and effectiveness) and this we have accomplished.  To our stakeholders, we have delivered higher quality products at a lower cost.

As we embrace the imperatives of 2010 and beyond, we are clear about our social and corporate responsibilities to the Caribbean. We would not fail in executing them. Our intention is to continue to focus our efforts on producing the highest quality products and excellent customer service which you have come to expect from us. In so doing, we would create better customer relationships that would undoubtedly make ECGC the Supplier of Choice.

To all our Stakeholders, our motto of “achieving excellence through team work” will continue to be our guiding light and we are looking forward for your continued support and encouragement.
