Before and during 2012, we have witnessed the fall and rise of many nations and businesses. Most certainly, ECGC has not been exempted from this global financial crisis. However, it is fair to say that our sustainability has been in part due to the policy guidance given by our Board of Directors coupled with astute decision making, and by the prudent execution of those policies by the Executive staff led by myself.   Notwithstanding, it is important to recognize the great contribution made with respect to the commitment, passion and dedication of each staff member within this Company.

Unstable times are still ahead of us, and we must be prepared to face them head on.  At this time, even though our diversification strategy has been progressing at a slow pace, it is still on track. In the meantime, we will continue to search for viable business opportunities that make a good fit for this Company, in order to expand and fortify our position in this fragile economic environment.  We recognize that our actions must be aggressive, but cautious, so that we might accomplish the projected goals.

In spite of the difficult year, ECGC has managed to maintain its community obligations via sponsorship and donation programs to critical sectors of the Caricom Community.  Our employees’ empowerment, training and education programs still remain high on the agenda, as well as the creation of innovative strategies to better serve all stakeholders.

As CEO, it is an honour for me to be doing business with all private and Governmental sectors. For this, I thank you!  To our new stakeholders and as a reminder to our loyal ones, let us look at what makes our products consistently the best choice for overall value:

So as one year has ended, and while we anticipate new and ongoing challenges in this foreseeable future, we strive to uphold our strong, long established and more recent customer relationships. Something we are very proud of. 

To this end, in January 2013, a team from our company visited most of our business partners in the OECS so as to ascertain their needs and how best we can assist them in achieving their goals. This action was well received by all and we intend to pursue their suggestions and recommendations.  In the next few months, a second visit will be made in order to measure the results of our actions, and in so doing, reinforce our motto - “Excellence through team work”.

On behalf of the BoD, Executive team and the staff of ECGC, I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2013.
