The future is full of challenges!!
A new year always brings with it great hopes, expectations and much anticipation of better things to come! No matter what our misfortune may have been in the year just past, it is only natural that we seek to rebound come January 1st! So in keeping with this positive spirit I send to you, warm greetings for 2015, from the Board of Directors, the Leadership Team and the entire staff at ECGC.
With the acquisition of Bottlers St. Vincent Ltd (now East Caribbean Bottlers Inc) in the spring of 2014, ECGC spent the remaining part of the year retooling and upgrading the plant. The popular aerated beverages were launched on the local market on Thursday 23 October, in time for the 35th Anniversary of Independence of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Not only has this new venture added business synergies to the Group’s overall operations but it has also created employment for over 40 persons. I am also pleased to report that the response from the Vincentian public to all of the flavours has been over-whelming; especially towards the iconic Red ju-C and our new Ju-C Cola!! Early in the new year we will be launching our Ju-C water along with the energy drink Village Ram and a couple of additional Ju-C flavours. We will also be moving into the export market.
ECGC is renowned for its high quality standards and therefore it is only natural that the company embarks upon the process of attaining HACCP and ISO accreditation. This process began in 2014 and should be completed later this year.
At Caricom Rice Mills in Guyana, the retooling and upgrading of the milling equipment at the rice factory, has led to an increase in throughput and improved quality. The company continues to extend its market reach across the Caribbean and recently launched a new product – Carigold Aromatic White Rice – which will become available across the region in the early half of this year.
Our OECS and Caricom partners are very important to us and as such we continue to ensure that we are regularly in touch with them through our market visits. As testimony to this and as promised, we held a highly successful baking seminar in St. Lucia, last June. We were able to include a few bakers from Dominica and Antigua and they were all able to hone their skills on Carigold Specialty Flour. This year we intend to host a similar session in the Leeward Islands plus host a feeds seminar in St. Lucia and Dominica!!
As ECGC enters its 38th year of operation, we look toward to the future, excitedly anticipating the success of all our new endeavours. We also remember our past and the exceptional contribution you have played in moulding us into whom we are today. We therefore wish to thank all of our customers for their loyalty to our products, services and support to our company over the decades. To our agents and distributors, we pledge our commitment to you, as together we all continue to strive for growth in what is a very competitive arena. You have our promise and commitment that we will do what is necessary to maintain our hallmark standard of excellence in the products we sell and the services we provide.
Our Motto proudly remains: Excellence through team-work!
Wishing you good health, peace of mind and prosperity in 2015!
Mr. Osmond Davy
