CARICOM Rice Mill Limited

Strategically located on the North Eastern Seaboard of Guyana in the town of Anna Regina, Caricom Rice Mills Limited (CRML) is the second largest rice producing entity in this “Land of many waters”. A subsidiary of the East Caribbean Group of Companies (ECGC); CRML provides employment for more than one hundred (100) residents of this predominantly rice producing region.

To ensure the projected/desired quantity of paddy is procured during each of the two ‘crops’ cultivated annually, the company has forged meaningful relationships with several of the region’s largest farmers, in addition to a joint venture for it’s one thousand (1000) acres of farmland with four prominent farmers.

The Purchasing and Quality Control Unit ensures incoming paddy is graded according to National Standards. As a result of the analyses, coupled with the forecast of customer requirements, management is able to make informed decisions in relation to the quality of paddy purchased. Purchased paddy is then monitored throughout each of the remaining phrases of product realization - from drying to storage, milling and delivery to customer. Most of the products produced by CRML, which includes parboiled and non-parboiled rice in cargo and polished forms, are sold on the Regional and European markets, thus attesting to the quality. To ensure customers satisfaction and continual improvement of its processes and products, CRML is currently perusing accreditation to the ISO 9001: 2000 Standard.

CRML maintains a truly symbiotic relationship with the community in which it operates as is evident in the Company’s marked contributions in areas of health, education, culture, sports and religion. The company also lends invaluable support to community self-help groups involved in social, environment and infrastructural improvement projects.
